Students in 5th grade Language Arts AIG class read a story form Talking Walls by Mary Burns Knight.
From the book's blurb:
"Do walls talk? If they did, what would they tell us? Who built them? Why? Can you imagine a world without walls?
Talking Walls...introduces young readers to different cultures by exploring walls around the world, showing the impact of walls on the people who build and are divided or unified by these partitions.
How far away are these walls? Who would you meet at them? What languages would you hear?"
Our students searched for these answers in their research and responded to the questions in the form of a "Where I'm From" poem (original poem by Georgia Ella Lyon). Click below to read the fantastic poems written by our talented student writers.
